Opening Dec. 4

The Central Oregon Community College Library will host “Pendleton Tapestries,” an exhibit by award-winning professional artist, educator and art advocate, Paul Alan Bennett. The opening reception in the library’s rotunda gallery will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4. The exhibit starts Nov. 19 and will continue through Jan. 22. The opening and the exhibit are free and open to the public.

The Sisters artist has garnered national attention for his passionately detailed and vivid tapestries that manifest a unique perspective. Bennett’s memories, life experiences and travels have sparked many of the themes found in this work.

Bennett has also excelled in the field of watercolor and most recently in the release of a select group of limited edition fine art giclee prints. He has also worked closely with Pendleton Woolen Mills to release limited-edition tapestry blankets. Bennett’s work has been reproduced for two Sisters Folk Festival posters and the 2008 Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show poster. He is an honors graduate of Maryland Institute of Art and earned a master of arts degree from the University of La Verne in Athens, Greece.
